Gehrens said her goals include delivering exceptional education and programs to students. “She has been in the role since June and she has been performing exceptionally well.”
“She has a history here, she knows the district,” said Nober. School Board President Angela Nober said Gehrens stood out from other candidates considered for the position. The board also approved paying $654 for Gehrens to attend special training for new superintendents in Harrisburg in January. Specifics on salary were not immediately available. The board approved a contract with Gehrens that will run from Jan.
“I’m very honored and proud to be the superintendent of Bristol Township School District,” said Gehrens. She has worked in Bristol Township for seven years, previously as supervisor of secondary curriculum and instruction. Gehrens had been serving as interim superintendent since June. The board voted 8-0 to make Melanie Gehrens the district’s top administrator. The Bristol Township School Board appointed a superintendent Monday, but the new leader is certainly no stranger to the district.
